MOLE / CANCER
SCREENING
Studies carried out by Cancer Research found that skin cancer was the most common cancer in the UK. Malignant Melanoma has increased by 400% over the past 35 years and is now the second most common cancer in people between the ages of 20 to 40 years old (Cancer Research).
Based in Thornton Cleveleys, Prestige Cryotherapy & Aesthetics is working with ScreenCancer UK to ensure individuals have access to affordable, innovative mole/pigmented lesion screening, to improve early detection and help save lives. Please be advised this service is not to replace a visit to the GP. If you're concerned a mole might be cancerous, please consult your doctor as soon as possible.
Remember, we recommend checking your skin every few months, so you're aware of any changes to existing moles or new ones appearing. Pay attention to your body, and if you have any doubts, please seek medical advice.
EARLY DETECTION CAN SAVE LIVES
The process is easy
The process is quick and simple. During the consultation at our clinic in Thornton Cleveleys, you'll be asked some questions about your exposure to UVA/UVB and general skin health. Images of the mole/lesion are captured with our non-invasive camera and are sent to our dermatologists, along with any supporting information, for their analysis.
If we find that the mole/lesion is normal, you will receive confirmation via text message or post. If issues are detected, a health advisor will call you directly, explain the results, and help you take the next steps, including referral to your doctor.
Screening at just £120
The price for our mole/lesion screening service is £120.00, which includes a consultation and the scan of an individual mole/lesion. Each additional scan will cost £35.00 thereafter. For bookings, please contact us.
Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)
One of the most common forms of skin cancer is BCC. It is most commonly found on areas of the head, ears and neck that are often exposed to the sun. Its erosive nature means the cancer eats into the tissue it affects, including the local skin, which can spread to other parts of the body. Risk factors include sun exposure, tanning beds and sunburn, and can affect those with fair skin.
Malignant Melanoma
Early detection is imperative when it comes to skin cancer. Melanoma is the deadliest of all skin cancers, but can be cured if it is caught early enough. When checking your skin, you need to be aware of the ABCD rule - pictured to the left. Keep track of your moles and photograph any that you're suspicious about, allowing you to compare once you check again. If you notice any changes at all, get advice from a professional.
